Broadband Survey email from TOB

Dear Breckenridge Water Customer,

What do you think about your quality of internet service? No really, we want to know!

You are receiving this email from the Town of Breckenridge as an invitation to take our Breckenridge Broadband survey.

The Town is currently exploring the possibility of constructing a municipally owned fiber-optic broadband infrastructure.  This project would allow for the availability of faster connection speeds, more service options, and lower pricing.

However, to make this project a reality in Breckenridge, we need your help.
Please click the link here and follow the instructions to take the very brief survey.  We can use this information to help design and plan the construction of a broadband infrastructure owned by the citizens of Breck.  If you are in unincorporated Summit County and received this email from the Town, please take the survey as well.
Breckenridge has the opportunity to own its internet future, and we’re asking you to join in.

White Cloud Bus Service Route and Stops

The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department has announced the bus stops for the new Uppers Warriors Mark / White Cloud Drive bus service.  The bus will stop at The Marriott on Columbine Rd, The Ice Skating Rink, Sunrise Point, Timberhill Ct, New England Drive, Gold King Way, and the turn around at the end of White Cloud Drive.  The town will be posting bus stop signs at each location.  Busses will run every 20 minutes starting at 7:30am.  See the diagram wmwbusstops for the locations of each stop.

Upper Warriors Mark to Get Shuttle Service

The details are still being worked out but the Town of Breckenridge has agreed to provide bus/shuttle service to upper Warriors Mark, AKA White Cloud.

Shuttle service will begin on or about 12/10/2016 and will run through the ski season.

  • At this time, service is not planned to operate outside of the winter season.
  • Shuttles will operate from about 7:30 each morning to about 11:00 each evening.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on utilization.
  • Shuttles will run about every 20 minutes (3 times an hour).
  • Shuttle service is for Upper Warrior’s Mark only and does not mix with the existing bus service in Lower Warrior’s Mark.
  • Shuttle route will be from/to Upper Warrior’s Mark, to the Marriot at the bottom of Columbine Circle, then on to the Ice Rink.
  • Shuttles will likely stop at 4-5 locations up on White Cloud.  Stop locations are still being finalized.
  • Shuttles WILL NOT stop at any of the existing Brown Bus stops along Broken Lance.
    • Shuttle service is only to take Upper Warrior’s Mark people to/from ski area and town via the Marriot and/or transfer at the Ice Rink.
    • Shuttle Bus service will be provided by a 3rd party firm.
  • Vehicles will be something along the lines of the Sprinter shuttles you see around town.
  • Vehicles will hold about 14 passengers.

We will post a sign somewhere on White Cloud and will send out a postcard letting everyone know.  Everyone living in the neighborhood should give it a try and encourage all renters as well.  The utilization of this service this winter will be a strong indicator of services required going forward.

After all these years… amazing!  Thanks to the efforts of Steve Wesley and Hal Vatcher, among others.  Thank you!

Town of Breckenridge to Implement Paid Parking This Winter

The Town of Breckenridge is excited to announce the implementation of an innovative smart parking system.  Solar powered, wireless parking pay stations are being installed. Patrons can pay with credit cards at the pay station or on their smart phone without ever having to visit a pay station.

WHY PAY PARKING? WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Improved guest (visitor and local) experience – fast, efficient parking by creating availability
  • Reduced traffic congestion – less vehicle circling while looking for parking
  • No time limits
  • Add time on your phone with the easy to use parking app – no need to rush back to your car
  • Increased retail revenue for businesses by promoting turnover
  • Encourages alternative transit options (free transit, biking, walking, shared rides)
  • Revenue will be used to introduce new technologies to help improve transit and parking resulting in further congestion relief
  • Easy, self managed validation options for businesses.

Hours and Rates:

  • Monday thru Thursday Nonpeak rates
  • Friday thru Sunday Peak rates
  • Rates on Main Street will be higher than other locations
  • The first fifteen minutes are FREE (license plate registration still required) and the first hour is $.50. The rate increases each hour thereafter

You can pay at any of the kiosks.

1. Press start button on keypad to begin

2. Enter license plate number (We recommend taking a picture of your license plate)

3. Insert credit card and follow on screen instructions

4. Press green button to complete transaction

5. Retain receipt for proof of purchase (no need to display in vehicle)

Street Lights at Broken Lance and Main have been adjusted to improve traffic flow.

From: Hal Vatcher, WMHOA board member
To: All Warriors Mark Homeowners

The Town of Breckenridge and CDOT have worked together to make changes to the operating schedule of the street lights located at Broken Lance & Main, and at S. Park & Main.  The objective is to move traffic easier and faster along S. Main towards town, as well, establish a better, more effective, program for exiting from Broken Lance onto and through Main Street.  I have been asked by out Asst. Town Manager and our Police Chief to make them aware of any new or continued issues.  Please let me know (via email hal@vatcher.com) if you experience any consistent difficulties or anomalies at these intersections.  Thank you.

From: Dennis R. McLaughlin
Chief of Police
Breckenridge Police Department

Officer Craig Johnson has now completed his SARA project at the intersections of Boreas and Park on Hwy. 9. About two weeks ago, CDOT changed out the traffic box at the Boreas intersection. Officer Johnson spoke to CDOT and along with the new box, they reset the timing to more accurately reflect traffic use patterns in that area. For the past two weeks, Officer Johnson surveyed the intersection at different times a day and various days of the week. He was unable to detect any backup or traffic problems at either intersection or along Hwy. 9 in that area. With that said, none of his survey days were on very heavy use days so we might see some backup problems with heavy traffic. I also mentioned that I received a citizen inquiry about the same area complaining about the timing of the signals. However about two weeks ago I also received the same citizen thanking us for fixing the problem. It appears from Officer Johnson’s contact with CDOT and the reports back from the citizen that the new CDOT traffic box solved the problem as far as we can tell. However, on our new SARA project forms, it calls for periodic follow up for the next 1-3 months, so Officer Johnson will continue to monitor the intersection from time to time. If any problems develop we will address them. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks.
